Shared Memories

“A devoted teacher, cherished friend, and beloved soul, Jayne touched countless lives with her kindness, wisdom, and quiet strength. In and out of the classroom, she inspired those around her with compassion, patience, and a genuine love for learning and people. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her students, colleagues, family, and friends, and though she is no longer with us, the light she brought to the world continues to shine through every life she touched.”

“Mrs copper what an incredible lady that will always have a place in my heart. Mrs cooper taught myself and so many others never to give up even if the odds are stacked against you. She installed into us that our mind is our greatest power and we will always succeed if we believed it was possible and worked to the best of our own ability’s. Throughout adulthood I still think of the inspiring things that she taught us.
Mrs copper had fantastic banter and would never fail to make you laugh.
I don’t think I ever took a pair of hoop earrings quicker than I did when I heard Mrs Coppers voice.. there was no way you’d want to upset her especially if you had pe that day because you’d definitely be doing a extra lap or two. On one of the hard days of my life at my mum’s funeral as I walked down the isle in the church I looked up to see Mrs Coopers face, she gave me a nod and I knew I was going to get through what ever was to come. In that moment she was a safe place, she reminded me that you're head should always be held high and a support networks are much more than just family and friends it was also teachers that put so much more into a job like Mrs cooper did. Mrs cooper actually cared about us all individually and she never failed to show us that. I’ll forever be grateful to have been privileged to have such an incredible teacher. My children also was lucky enough to have been taught by Mrs copper and received the same love and support that i did. Mrs Copper you really was one of kind.
My deepest condolences to your family.”

“Jayne was a wonderful person, and a lovely Netball coach. She coached our South East Wales Netball under 14 team and I remember her making those times so much fun, and making lasting memories for some of us playing our first games for county. She was caring, she was knowledgeable and she gave her time to others. Thank you Jayne”

“This is so hard to write because you should be here with us. I first met you 20 years ago, it was a scary encounter to be honest, however it taught me a lesson to not take anything anyone says as the whole truth, especially when it came to skipping PE. Jayne, you are a fantastic friend and colleague, I will never forget your laugh when trying to explain funny situations that happened, your joy at telling me you were going to be a Grandmother, how proud you are of your Son, his achievements and his young family. You truly are a unique, dedicated, genuine person, who is greatly missed. Shine bright lovely lady. I will miss you so much. xx”

“Like all teachers Mrs Cooper was a teacher that showed her Kindness. When I first came into Lliswerry High School in Year 7, I was confused on where to go and I wasn't even put on the register. Mrs Cooper alongside Mr Coughlin made me feel comfortable on the first day and from that day on even though she wasn't my teacher, she was a very kind women and I thank her for her dedication to every student that was taught under her.”

“A best mate for 25 years, a loyal colleague and a complete tonic in life. You were such a character and all the children respected you.
As always, you just got on with whatever life threw at you, right up until the end. You never complained.
We will miss you every day ❤️”

“It’s not very often I’m lost for words, but these words don’t come easily…
Jayne, you were Lliswerry through and through; one of the kindest, thoughtful, funny, compassionate, child-focused teachers I have ever known. You dedicated your whole life to LHS, you deserve a medal!!
My memories of you are vast, particularly on the Yr 7 London trips - goodness we had some laughs on those trips!! I vividly remember creeping up n down the corridors at stupid o’clock, listening for the noisy ones, banging on doors telling them to shut up.. then taking pleasure in waking them all up at 6.30am to make sure they were down for breakfast by 8.30am, whilst they ate their Ben n Jerrys Ice Cream! So many great memories on those trips.
Seriously though Jayne, you are one in a million and I’m so very sad you’re no longer here. You are now at peace and out of pain. May you and Sue Griffiths have a good old natter catching up on old times. I’m proud to say I knew you. My deepest condolences to Andy, Luke and all your family and friends x.”

“I was lucky enough to work with Jayne for 15 years at Lliswerry and at some point she obviously decided I was good at trips because she took me along on a few of them, including the Holy Grail of the ski trip. The only problem was I couldn't ski, but that didn't bother Coops: she just stuck me in the baby group so I could get laughed at by all the kids. I didn't mind; I actually learnt to ski and Jayne got to show her skills while I babysat all rubbish skiers.

What I'll always remember was how intense she was when she was organizing us. Whether it was telling someone off, laughing at a joke or getting everyone up for an activity, she really went for it full gas. She just had so much energy and it was really infectious.

Those trips were a real highlight of my time in Newport and it meant a lot to me that Jayne trusted me because she was a really genuine and generous character. She will be sadly missed and my thoughts go to her family and Andrew. Xxx”
