Dear Year 11 Parent/Carer,
As you will be aware we are entering the main summer exam series, with the first subject examinations starting today, Friday 12th May. As far as our learners are concerned normal attendance at school is required up to May half term, which starts on Monday 29th May.
After half term Year 11 learners are expected to attend all timetabled lessons for the exams they are still to sit. For example, English Language Unit 3 exam takes place on Monday 12 June. All Year 11 learners are expected in all of their English lessons before this date. If learners wish to remain in school to revise, they can continue to go to all timetabled lessons.
The only times learners will not be needed in school is if they have undertaken all of the exams listed on their exam timetable and are completely up to date with any coursework/BTEC subjects they are entered for. If this is the case, they will be told by a member of staff that they do not need to attend.
The last official day of attendance for all Year 11 learners will be the end of June, but in reality, they will not be attending once they have completed all of their examinations unless they are needed for other reasons e.g. to complete coursework. You will be contacted should this be the case.
Please note that we will be having an official leavers assembly for our Year 11 learners on 26th May. All learners are expected in school and in their form class by 8.30am. On this day Year 11 learners will be leaving school at approximately 11.00am.
Please do discuss the things I have highlighted above with your child if you haven’t already done so.
I would like to thank you all for everything you have done to support your child and our school. I hope that you and your child have a fantastic summer break following the completion of the summer examinations, and that they get the results they deserve in August on results day (further information to follow regarding this and revision/exam preparation). If you would like any further information or support, please do not hesitate to contact us. I look forward to seeing most of our Year 11 learners once again in September, when they embark upon the next stage of their lives as part of our school’s Sixth Form.
Best wishes,
Neil Davies
